Job summary

HM Treasury is seeking an experienced publishing professional to lead digital content across its online platforms, including GOV.UK. The role involves coordinating publication workflows, working with policy teams and press offices, and ensuring high editorial and accessibility standards for high-profile documents and announcements.

About the Team

Ministerial and Communications

The group responsible for Ministerial affairs and Communications sits at the heart of the Treasury. If you are interested in the inner workings of the Government, meeting Ministers, Senior Officials and liaising with the Press then this could be the place for you! We are a friendly and inclusive Group working on some of the most exciting issues of the day, bringing together work from across the rest of the department and engaging closely with partners across Whitehall and beyond.

We provide support to Ministers, through Ministerial offices. We act as Treasury's external face, through the Press Office and Communications team. We are responsible for leading the department, through our support for the Permanent Secretary, the Second Permanent Secretaries, the Treasury Board, and the Executive Management Board (EMB), and our ownership of Treasury governance structures. The Group is led by the Permanent Secretary.

The Communications Team is responsible for all communications conducted by HM Treasury and its Ministers. It works closely with Ministers, special advisers and policy teams to communicate the full range of the Treasury’s work, through traditional and new media channels.

This is a high-performing, encouraging, and fun group. We work highly collaboratively across the different aspects of communications (press, digital, events, insight). The roles are high-profile and post-holders are given a large degree of ownership for their projects. The team is a flexible resource, and the post-holder will need be ready to support colleagues during busy periods as responsibilities can move around to reflect government priorities

About the Job

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include;

• Deliver the publication of HM Treasury documents and announcements on GOV.UK, working within departmental publishing standards and guidance set by the Senior Content Designer.
• Coordinate the digital production workflow for major Treasury publications. Support the delivery of fiscal events such as the Budget. Manage timelines and collaborate with teams across the department to ensure content is ready for publication.
• Edit and structure sophisticated documents and web content so they are clear, accessible and suitable for digital readers, ensuring content meets GOV.UK style and accessibility requirements.
• Work closely alongside policy teams, press officers, and various collaborators to provide advice on preparing documents for digital publication and navigating the publishing process.
• Provide day to day advice to peers throughout the department on preparing content for publication and using Treasury publishing templates.

Working closely with the Senior Content Designer for GOV.UK, you will help manage the end to end publishing process for Treasury documents, ensuring they meet high editorial and accessibility standards.

You will work with policy teams, press officers and other colleagues across the department to plan, edit and publish digital content. The role requires strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple publications in a fast paced and high profile environment.

About You

We’re looking for someone with experience of publishing or leading digital content for a website or digital platform, including editing or preparing sophisticated information for online audiences. They’ll be able to coordinate and deliver high profile publications, reports or digital content while working with multiple stakeholders and handling challenging deadlines. They’ll also be able to demonstrate experience of applying editorial, content design or accessibility principles to improve the transparency and usability of digital content.
