Job summary

Deliveroo is seeking a Backend Engineer (Golang) to build real-time fraud detection and enforcement across the company's financial products. The role sits in London and collaborates with teams in Helsinki and Berlin to protect payout flows and banking operations.

You will design high-throughput services, own production code, and contribute to the fraud infrastructure while working with risk, data science, and product stakeholders to translate patterns into actionable rules.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of professional software engineering experience, with ownership of production services.
• 1+ years of production Go experience or strong willingness to learn Go quickly.
• Understanding of low-latency, high-throughput distributed systems.
• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases and event-driven architectures.
• Willingness to on-call with a pragmatic reliability mindset.
• Uses AI tooling in day-to-day development and can evaluate its outputs.

Responsibilities

• Build high-throughput, low-latency Go backend services for real-time fraud detection.
• Design automated enforcement for financial products across multiple brands.
• Extend a shared fraud decisioning platform to leverage signals, rules and models.
• Collaborate with risk, data science, and product teams to translate patterns into detections.
• Work across teams to reuse signals and interfaces, avoiding rebuilds.
• Contribute to architectural decisions establishing fraud infrastructure baseline.
• Write well-tested, observable code and maintain high quality standards.
