Job summary

Neo4j, Inc. is seeking a software engineer to join the Sharding Engineering team. You will help build and operate Go services and Kubernetes tooling for Aura, Neo4j’s managed graph database service, including Infinigraph and Composite for distributed query execution.

You’ll work on provisioning, scaling, and operating sharded clusters at data volumes customers rely on, across cloud providers, with a focus on reliability and performance in a cloud-native environment.

Qualifications

• Experience developing production-level software.
• Strong Go experience across multiple projects, from scripting through to larger microservice-style applications, plus knowledge of the Go build and packaging system.
• Strong Kubernetes experience, including pods, deployments, and stateful sets, and running stateful workloads.
• Experience with modern CI/CD: pipelines from PR to production, building and running Docker images.
• Ability to work independently within a flexible software development organisation.
• Ability to communicate about, and collaborate on, complex topics.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve the Aura control plane for sharded and composite databases in Go.
• Ensure shards, composite instances, clusters, and lifecycles are managed declaratively via Kubernetes.
• Fix bugs, document features, participate in cross-team design meetings, and study database research.
• Engage in daily stand-ups, design meetings, and retrospectives.
• Learn, think, and experiment; specialise in interests to grow yourself, the team, and the product.
