Express Recruitment is partnering with a leading UK-based heavy industrial equipment and castings specialist to recruit a Technical/Manufacturing Engineer. The role is based in Nottingham with 37.5 hours per week (Mon-Fri, 9:00-5:00) and involves overseas travel to China and other parts of Asia (roughly 3-4 trips annually).

The successful candidate will have heavy industry experience, strong CAD skills (CREO preferred), knowledge of castings and fabrication, and a track record in product

Qualifications

• HND or degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering
• Experience in product development and industrial manufacturing
• Proven knowledge of castings and heavy fabrication
• Ability to read/modify CAD drawings (CREO preferred, AutoCAD ok)
• Strong shopfloor experience in milling, turning, grinding, welding
• Willingness to travel UK and overseas
• Apply knowledge of fabrication, casting, tooling and materials to QA

• Assist with manufacturing process improvements across UK/overseas sites
• Design testing methods to assure product and process quality
• Prepare detailed product reports from market research findings
• Attend workshops and maintain up-to-date technical knowledge

Job description

Express Recruitment are excited to be working in partnership with one of the UK’s leading supply chain specialists of heavy industrial equipment and castings, catering for growing worldwide sectors, from Mining to Construction. Due to continued success, our client is keen to recruit an experienced Technical/Manufacturing Engineer with proven heavy industry experience.

The contracted working hours are 37.5 hours per week, 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday to Friday. Due to the demanding and varied nature of the role, the successful candidate will be required to travel overseas to China and other parts of Asia to visit client manufacturing facilities (typically 3-4 times per year). Their UK facilities are based in Nottingham.

Skills & Experience

• HND/Degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering or similar field
• Demonstrable background within product development and industrial manufacturing
• Proven knowledge of castings and heavy fabrication essential
• Good understanding of applying FEA/FMEA analysis
• Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings (CREO preferred but AutoCAD knowledge is transferable), with capability of modifying 2D/3D drawings desirable
• Solid shopfloor experience, with knowledge of operations including milling, turning, grinding, fabrication and welding
• Flexible with UK and overseas travel (holder of full Uk driving license and UK passport essential)
• Apply in depth knowledge of fabrication, casting, tooling, and materials to aid QA process and ensure products are manufactured to specification and quality requirements
• Ensure industrial casting parts and precision components have been thoroughly assessed and inspected prior to exporting to suppliers
• Consult closely with customers to ensure any pending issues or queries resolved in an efficient and professional manner
• Co-ordinate risks and FMEAs to Technical Director
• Take ownership of the implementation of ‘CSR’ policies within all factories to maintain and protect employee welfare
• Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; inspecting finished- product and process capabilities
• Prepare detailed product reports based on findings conducted via market research, identifying current competitor trends
• Attend and represent the company at various educational workshops, as well as to maintain up to date technical knowledge of changes within the market
• Travel to various manufacturing facilities throughout the UK and overseas, to assist with manufacturing process improvements
