Job summary

Point Professional Recruitment LTD is seeking a Service Engineer to join a Bedfordshire-based machinery manufacturer. You will install, commission, and debug PLC software on production lines, providing on-site and remote technical support across the UK and overseas.

The role requires a recognised Electrical/Electronic/Control Engineering qualification and 5+ years in PLC-focused service. Travel availability is essential, with a competitive salary and clear progression opportunities.

Qualifications

Qualified in Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering (BTEC, HNC or similar).
5+ years’ experience as a Service Engineer – PLC-focused role.
Strong PLC programming experience (Siemens and/or Allen Bradley).

Responsibilities

Attend customer sites for installation, commissioning, upgrades, training, and breakdown support.
Write, debug, and commission PLC software on site for production line integration.
Provide remote diagnostics and technical support for breakdowns and upgrades.
Deliver telephone and email support to customers.
Work closely with internal engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
Assist with in‑house commissioning and testing of machinery prior to shipment.
Liaise with service and spares teams to ensure accurate support logging and quotation processes.
Complete internal quality documentation including validation documents and test plans.
Act as a professional company representative when attending customer sites.
Support continuous improvement of machinery and software systems.
