Job summary

MERJE is seeking a senior Payments Compliance leader to shape and drive the international regulatory framework within a high-profile financial services business. The role offers visibility to senior executives and regulators, guiding complex decisions across multiple jurisdictions.

You will lead a small, high-calibre team and act as a strategic adviser on evolving regulatory requirements, ensuring products and services operate within the firm’s risk appetite and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of global payment networks, payment schemes and the regulatory environment.
• Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory risks in payments.
• Experience operating in a highly regulated financial services organisation.
• Track record engaging with regulators and senior executives.
• Experience building and developing high-performing Compliance teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and continuous improvement of the international payments compliance programme.
• Act as a senior subject matter expert across payment networks and merchant services.
• Advise on evolving regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to align products and practices with risk appetite.
• Support engagement with international regulators and oversight of major decisions.
• Oversee remediation arising from regulatory or internal findings.
• Build and develop a high-calibre payments compliance team.
• Provide strategic input on emerging technologies and regulatory developments.
