Job summary

KLA Newport, Wales is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead the Central Engineering team. You will guide an engineering group across product divisions, deliver innovative solutions, and drive technical excellence with cross-functional collaboration.

This role requires a solid mechanical engineering foundation, proven people leadership, and the ability to coordinate across disciplines and international teams, including occasional travel to the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• Experience leading and developing people within mechanical/technical environments.
• Strong mechanical engineering background to guide technical teams and engineering decisions.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams across product groups and global teams.
• Excellent stakeholder-management and collaboration with multiple groups.
• Knowledge of design tools and methods (3D CAD, GD&T, FEA or CFD).
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a growing multidisciplinary team.
• Build relationships with internal stakeholders and product groups to align priorities.
• Provide technical guidance and oversight on mechanical activity across projects.
• Lead complex projects balancing technical, commercial, quality and schedule.
• Support the full mechanical design lifecycle from requirements through testing.
• Drive continuous improvement and consistent engineering practice across the team.
• Manage direct employees, contractors and external suppliers with clear accountability.
• Support team growth through recruitment, onboarding, and development.
• Collaborate with global colleagues and stakeholders, including US travel.
