Job summary

Experian is seeking a Head of Software Engineering to provide strategic leadership across the ID&F organisation. The role requires weekly travel to our London office to meet senior stakeholders, and to partner with product, engineering, operations, and business teams to deliver scalable solutions.

You will lead globally distributed teams, drive modernisation, and champion an AI-native culture with data-driven decisions, while aligning with governance and enterprise risk standards.

Qualifications

• Strong people leadership experience building global engineering teams.
• Proficient in .NET, AWS, EKS, DevOps, Claude, Cursor; Java is desirable.
• Experience using AI tools and adoption across engineering teams.
• Experience in a secure development environment.
• Ability to build relationships globally and influence decisions using data.
• Fosters a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Demonstrates strategic mindset while staying close to execution.
• Solves problems with a business-first, technology-informed approach in ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead globally distributed engineering teams with clear direction and accountability.
• Translate strategy into executable plans, measurable outcomes, and operating rhythms.
• Champion an AI-native engineering culture with automation and data-driven decisions.
• Provide technical leadership in Java Full Stack, .NET, AWS, EKS, Claude, Cursor.
• Lead technology modernisation initiatives and adopt new platforms and tools.
• Act as trusted advisor for complex business and technology challenges.
• Partner with product, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders.
• Ensure governance, security, compliance, and risk alignment.
• Own workforce planning, hiring, succession, and leadership coaching.
• Manage budgets, vendors, and resourcing; report risks and progress.
