Job summary

Experian is seeking a Head of Software Engineering to provide strategic leadership across the ID&F organization, combining people leadership, technology modernisation, and delivery accountability. You will travel weekly to our London office to meet senior stakeholders and partner with product and operations to deliver scalable, secure software solutions.

You will own workforce planning, drive engineering excellence, and champion an AI-native culture while guiding budgets and vendor relationships

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading globally distributed engineering teams.
• Experience championing AI-enabled engineering practices and data-driven decisions.
• Strong background in secure development environments.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead high‑performing, globally distributed engineering teams with clear direction and accountability.
• Drive delivery excellence by turning strategic objectives into executable plans with measurable outcomes.
• Champion an AI‑native engineering culture by integrating AI, automation, and data‑driven decision making into development and operations.
• Provide technical leadership with expertise in Java Full Stack, .NET, AWS, EKS, Claude, Cursor, and modern practices.
• Lead modernization initiatives, simplify legacy environments, and accelerate adoption of new platforms and tools.
• Act as a trusted advisor to solve complex business and technology challenges with structured thinking and sound judgment.
• Partner with product, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to align priorities and deliver scalable solutions.
• Ensure governance, security, compliance and risk standards are reflected in all decisions.
• Own workforce planning, talent strategy, coaching, and leadership development across teams.
• Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and resourcing while reporting risks and progress to senior leadership.
