Job summary

AXIS Capital is seeking a Group Head of Operational Risk to lead the design, evolution and embedding of the Group Operational Risk Framework across the enterprise. You will provide independent oversight, challenge and insights to the CRO, leadership, and Board Risk Committee.

You will own the governance platform, report material exposures, and lead regulatory responses across USA, Bermuda, UK (Lloyd's) and Ireland, shaping resilience and risk-informed decision-making.

Qualifications

• Experience leading operational risk in complex, regulated insurance or reinsurance groups.
• Detailed knowledge of risk and control assessments, risk appetite, KRIs and governance reporting.
• Ability to translate risk information into clear executive guidance and recommendations.
• Ability to operate across multiple entities and jurisdictions with consistent standards.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the Group Operational Risk Framework and risk strategy aligned with regulatory expectations.
• Set Group-wide priorities for operational risk and strengthen first-line ownership.
• Provide independent second-line oversight across units and entities.
• Define forward-looking approaches for key risks including cyber, third-party and outsourcing risk.
