Job summary

Ocado Group is seeking a senior fire safety lead to govern and assure fire risk across our global operations within the HSFE function. You will evaluate life safety, property protection and business continuity, advising senior stakeholders and guiding engineering and operations teams.

As the principal fire safety competent person, you will shape risk standards, embed safety into project delivery, and manage regulatory relationships with authorities and auditors, while driving strategic HSFE

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in risk management, fire safety or built-environment discipline.
• Current professional membership of a recognised fire safety or risk management body.
• Experience of fire risk management in multi-site, multi-jurisdictional settings.
• Ability to determine and oversee fire risk assessment methodology and competent-person requirements.

Responsibilities

• Owning fire safety standards, methodology and assurance across all operating territories.
• Second-line function: advise operations on fire risk and compliance without owning decisions.
• Integrate fire risk into the HSFE governance framework.
• Provide technical review for entry into new territories and embed fire safety in contracts and design.
• Advise on emerging thermal risks with robotic automation and energy storage.
• Lead external fire safety relationships with regulators and auditors.
• Contribute to broader HSFE governance and assurance beyond fire.
