Job summary

SmartestEnergy Business Limited (SEBL) invites a highly experienced Finance Director to join the board and executive team. You will define financial strategy, underpin performance, resilience and value creation while providing independent assurance on governance and controls.

You will lead the long-term plan, budget and capital strategy, guiding major commercial and regulatory decisions with senior leadership and the board.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with substantial post-qualification experience.
• Experience leading a multi-layered finance function.
• Strong governance, risk and regulatory reporting experience.
• Deep knowledge of UK energy retail economics and cost drivers.

Responsibilities

• Act as statutory Finance Director and enterprise leader, sharing accountability with CEO and Board.
• Shape SEBL’s three-to-five-year strategy and financial priorities.
• Provide independent board assurance on financial performance and control environment.
• Own the integrated long-term plan, annual budget, forecasts and narrative.
• Set the financial framework for decisions including risk and return.
• Oversee financial control, reporting integrity and process controls.
• Own capital, liquidity and balance-sheet strategy.
• Define reporting architecture and KPIs for board decisions.
• Lead a matrix Finance organisation and build capability.
