Job summary

AstraZeneca UK Limited in Cambridge seeks an Executive Director, Clinical Operations, Program Management to lead end-to-end delivery of a cell therapy portfolio across phases. You will set strategy, governance, and discipline for global study execution, partnering with senior leaders to enable rapid, compliant delivery.

Reporting to the Head of Cell Therapy Clinical Operations, you will build and mentor a high-performing team of senior program leaders, shape metrics, and ensure readiness for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• Extensive experience in drug development with direct clinical operations experience.
• Line management experience; experience managing Snr Director level staff in a large pharma/biotech setting.
• Demonstrated development of others and capability-building across teams.
• Experience contributing to Clinical Operations improvement initiatives affecting multiple programs.

Responsibilities

• Define and steward franchise strategy across all programs for delivery.
• Develop country footprint and site strategies with consistent operational plans.
• Lead franchise-level resolution of cross-program issues.
• Provide strategic oversight for all in-scope cell therapy studies, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.
• Establish governance, metrics, and portfolio insights for accountability.
• Build, develop, and retain Senior Director‑level program leaders.
