Job summary

Holt Engineering in Poole, Dorset is seeking a Despatch & Transport Controller to join our Operations Team. You will coordinate UK and international shipments, manage export documentation and ensure customer orders are dispatched accurately and on time.

This role requires proven experience in despatch, transport or logistics, strong organization and communication skills, and the ability to work with freight forwarders, customers and suppliers. Hours: Monday – Friday. Salary up to £33,000 DOE.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a despatch, transport, shipping or logistics role.
• Proven export experience and knowledge of road, sea and air freight.
• Understanding of export procedures and international shipping documentation.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and high levels of administrative accuracy.
• Confident communicator, comfortable dealing with customers, suppliers and external transport providers.
• Good telephone manner and professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily despatch schedules and arrange collections with transport providers and freight forwarders.
• Monitor customer orders to ensure timely packing, shipping and delivery.
• Prepare accurate export and shipping documentation for road, sea and air freight.
• Track and obtain proof of export documentation, maintaining accurate records.
• Update internal CRM/ERP systems and work-in-progress reports.
• Process completed orders to support timely customer invoicing.
• Raise and manage purchase orders, negotiating supplier pricing and lead times.
• Obtain transport and supplier quotations.
• Liaise with suppliers, customers and freight companies to resolve queries and maintain delivery schedules.
• Investigate and resolve despatch-related administration issues.
• Coordinate project shipments and internal transport movements to testing facilities and subcontractors.
