Position Details

National Grid is hiring a Global Compensation Manager for our Global Compensation Team. This position is located in NG House, Warwick, with hybrid working arrangements.

The Opportunity

The Global Compensation Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing global compensation strategies and programs aligned with business goals and market competitiveness. The role involves providing expertise in compensation practices, market analysis, job evaluation, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop innovative global compensation strategies to attract, motivate, and retain talent.
  2. Align compensation initiatives with the organization's strategic goals and industry best practices.
  3. Lead projects such as salary structure reviews, incentive plan designs, and equity compensation programs.
  4. Oversee global compensation operations, ensuring efficient administration.
  5. Conduct benchmarking and market data analyses to inform decisions.
  6. Manage annual compensation cycle activities, including merit, bonus, and long-term incentives.
  7. Lead and mentor a team of compensation professionals, fostering collaboration and high performance.
  8. Provide training and guidance to HR teams worldwide on compensation principles and practices.
  9. Promote continuous improvement and innovation within the compensation function.
  10. Manage resources allocated for compensation initiatives, ensuring optimal use within budget.
  11. Oversee survey and consulting expenditures related to compensation.
  12. Lead annual review processes, manage merit planning, and develop salary increase budgets.
  13. Lead job evaluation processes to maintain internal equity and external competitiveness.
  14. Support pay negotiations during mergers and acquisitions.
  15. Manage sensitive pay negotiations and complex issues with business leaders.
  16. Develop communication strategies to promote understanding of compensation programs.
  17. Partner with HR and communication teams to communicate recognition and compensation changes.

About You

  • Experience in global compensation management, including market analysis and incentive design.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements across countries.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead teams.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills; proficiency in compensation software and HRIS systems.

Additional Information

Salary: £62,000 - £74,000 depending on capability

  • 28 days holiday plus statutory days and option to buy extra.
  • Performance bonus up to 15%.
  • Generous pension scheme, double matched up to 6%.
  • Life insurance at 10x basic salary.
