Job summary

Macquarie is seeking a Product and Valuation Controller to join the London-based team supporting revenue recognition, valuation control and performance analysis for our commodities trading business.

You will collaborate with front office, risk, operations and finance to ensure robust governance, accurate balance sheet reporting and timely month-end processes. Strong analytics and stakeholder communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years’ experience in product control, market risk, valuation control or a similar role within a trading or investment banking environment.
  • Experience supporting commodities trading, ideally across oil, gas, power, carbon or physical products.
  • Understanding of physical logistics such as storage, shipping and pipeline activity, alongside financial instruments including swaps, futures and options.
  • Strong analytical capability, high attention to detail and a practical control mindset.
  • Familiarity with coding languages such as Python, SQL or VBA would be advantageous.
  • Confidence communicating with senior stakeholders and constructively challenging front office where required.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, substantiating and controlling revenue recognition for our trading business.
  • Overseeing daily profit and loss production and analysis, validate valuations for physical and derivative positions.
  • Provide clear explanation of financial performance to trading desks and senior stakeholders.
  • You will work closely with front office, risk, operations and finance teams to ensure robust valuation control, accurate balance sheet reporting and strong financial governance.
  • Support month-end close activity, front to back reconciliations and ongoing improvements of reporting, control and system processes.
