The role

The Global Brand Director will join the business at an incredibly exciting time:

  • Strong Brands in Rapidly Growing Categories: Nelsons portfolio of brands (RESCUE, Bach Original Flower Remedies, Spatone, Nelsons Teetha and Nelsons Arnicare) have a strong consumer reputation and are used to address some of the fastest-growing natural healthcare needs such as stress, sleep and emotional wellbeing
  • Business ambition to double the global sales: Nelsons is midway through a transformation to step-change business growth, by focusing resources on winning in the market and investing in enhanced capabilities in areas such as marketing, creative, innovation and digital/ecommerce.
  • Global go-to-market capability: Nelsons operates across all continents, with a mix of owned inmarket operations and strong distributor partners. This capability enables successful growth initiatives to scale rapidly across multiple markets. Key existing markets include UK, France, Germany and USA. Within the marketing function we are embedding a “One Marketing Team” model of global growth strategies and creative leadership, combined with local in-market activation excellence.

The Global Brand Director role is a key leadership role within Nelsons – responsible for accelerating Nelsons’ business growth through smart brand marketing strategies and consumer activation. Their direct team will include 8 team members responsible for brand strategy (including brand positioning, communication ideas and brand visual identity), multi-region campaigns, digital and performance marketing, and brand education (to healthcare professionals, retail staff and internal teams). They will partner closely with the Global Product & Innovation Director (responsible for product portfolio and innovation strategy), the Head of Creative Operations (who leads a hybrid team of internal creative talent and external specialist freelancers), and the three Regional Marketing Leaders (France/Germany, UK/Export, and US). The Global Brand Director role reports to the Group Marketing Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Global Brand Strategy (Brand Positioning and Growth Strategies) for the Nelsons portfolio of natural healthcare brands. - Ensure each brand has a distinctive and consumer-motivating brand positioning. The positioning will provide clarity and direction to our wider team and retail customers/distributors, and be a powerful springboard for successful innovation and consumer activation.
  • Ensure each brand has a distinctive and creatively impactful brand visual identity which leverages the brands’ distinctive brand assets - Lead the 3 year and 1 year marketing activation calendar, partnering with Regional Leads to ensure plans address the growth opportunities of existing and emerging geographies.
  • Lead and coach a direct team of Global Brand Marketing, Education and Ecom/Performance Marketing experts, and partner with the Global Product & Innovation Director, Regional Marketing Leads, and Head of Creative Operations.
  • Provide clear and inspiring briefs to creative teams – both the internal team and external freelancers / agencies. Coach internal team to ensure high quality of creative briefs and effective creative feedback.
  • Lead the digital (performance marketing) and AI upskilling of the team – bringing a culture of digital curiosity and learning to the team and embedding new ways of working that enhance brand impact, team productivity and return-on-investment. -
  • Recommend resource allocation during budgeting process – to maximise commercial growth and strengthen the equity of our brands - Role model the evolution of Nelsons into becoming a more consumer-centric business

We’d love you to have

  • Experience of leading both multi-country brand strategy development and multi-country marketing activation. Able to keep strategy and activation powerfully simple.
  • Experience of leading a brand’s revitalisation through consumer positioning, creative idea, identification of focused growth drivers and smart use of distinctive brand assets
  • A proven track record of step-changing business growth – with an entrepreneurial and creative scale-up mindset that enables mid-sized budgets to make a disproportionately big impact.
  • Exceptional clarity of communication.
  • Able to inspire the wider business with a clear vision for the brands – and distil brand strategy down to simple growth drivers and focused activation.
  • A proven track record of building high performance teams – both direct teams and crossfunctional teams.
  • Experience within a branded consumer goods business (health and wellness experience an added advantage).
  • Ideally, experience of working in regulated categories.
  • Strong digital marketing skills and an innate digital curiosity. Experience of coaching and upskilling teams in performance marketing as a lever of business growth.
