Job summary

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Software Engineer III within the Global Banking Platform (GBP) to help build and deliver trusted market-leading technology products at scale. The role involves secondment to a fintech partner, then returning to JPMC to advance GBP's cloud journey, with exposure to cloud-native microservices, CI/CD, and secure coding practices.

You will design and implement scalable services, contribute to architecture artifacts, and work across teams to translate product requirements

Qualifications

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and applied experience.
  • Hands‑on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Proficient in at least one major programming language: Go, Python and/or Java
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Terraform
  • Experience in developing automated tests as an integral part of the development cycle.
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Experience with any cloud provider.
  • Hands‑on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and develop scalable, performant microservices using software engineering best practices.
  • Writes secure and high-quality code
  • Writes automated unit tests, integration tests, etc.
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in code and data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
  • Manage and troubleshoot deployments from testing environments all the way to production.
  • Interface with other engineering teams to ensure that features are added in a structured and coherent way.
  • Translate generic product requirements into trackable tickets.
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
  • Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
