Job summary

Magna International in the UK is seeking a maintenance engineer to oversee the overall maintenance of plant equipment, ensuring smooth operation and alignment with customer demand. The role involves daily design meetings to promote continuous improvement in machine availability.

The ideal candidate has a time-served apprenticeship in mechanical or electrical engineering, experience with ABB robotic systems, fault-finding in electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic schematics, and strong MS Office skills;

Qualifications

• Time served apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum C&G craft qualification / NVQ Level 3 qualification in related discipline or equivalent.
• Willingness to multi-skill.
• Experience working with ABB robots.
• Experience in fault finding from electrical schematics.
• Experience in fault finding from hydraulic & pneumatic schematics.
• Good Microsoft package (Word, Excel).
• Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical staff.
• 5S experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain plant equipment to ensure smooth operation and uptime against targets.
• Engage in design meetings to promote continuous improvement in machine availability.
• Ensure equipment availability aligns with departmental targets.
• Conduct root cause analysis of repeat or major breakdowns and report improvements.
• Engineer out previous issues following a continuous improvement mindset and methodology.
• Facilitate PM schedules and make recommendations for improvement.
• Support internal customers with technical issues including non-breakdown problems.
• Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental procedures are followed during maintenance activities.
• Maintain and improve equipment to build in quality.
• Attend training and adhere to Magna standards.
• Apply 5S methodology in work area and wider factory.
• Align to departmental and company goals.
• Support management with ad-hoc projects as required.
• Promote the company's HSE policies across the department and plant and adhere to all HSE requirements.
