Job summary

NES Fircroft invites applications for a Research & Development Associate to join a leading global agricultural business. The role is based in their glasshouses and research facilities on a 12‑month contract with potential extension or permanent opportunities.

The position is a hands‑on role working 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, supporting research and technical teams, maintaining plant materials, and contributing to a range of screening activities.

Qualifications

• HND or equivalent in horticulture, plant biology, seed production or related field or relevant practical experience.
• Experience with plants, glasshouses or seed production is desirable.
• Good attention to detail and a methodical approach.

Responsibilities

• Maintain plants and seed materials in controlled glasshouse environments.
• Support experimental work using established and new screening methods.
• Carry out day‑to‑day plant production and maintenance.
• Monitor plants during testing and raise issues as needed.
• Record data and update databases with accuracy.
• Assist with process improvements and new techniques.
• Follow HSE, quality and containment procedures.
