Job summary

Doncaster & Bassetlaw NHS FT seeks a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine with a special interest in Movement Disorders. The post is based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, with cross-site working possible at Bassetlaw and Mexborough Hospitals. You will lead Movement Disorders and CGA services across inpatient wards, clinics, and the Frailty Unit.

The role offers senior clinical leadership, teaching responsibilities, and opportunities to shape service delivery within a supportive NHS trust.

Qualifications

• MRCP or equivalent is required.
• Must be on the specialist register for Geriatric Medicine or be within 6 months of admission if in UK training.
• Licence to Practise must be held.

Responsibilities

• Provide frailty-focused care for older adults on acute inpatient wards (input to Frailty Assessment Unit).
• Develop and deliver CGA for frail/complex patients.
• Ensure timely discharge to avoid unnecessary hospital stays.
• Develop Movement Disorders services across Doncaster, Bassetlaw and Mexborough.
• Lead and mentor the multidisciplinary team including residents and ACPs.
• Contribute to quality improvement and clinical governance in the department.
• Support education and training of postgraduate doctors and other staff.
• Provide clinical leadership as a senior team member.
• Participate in service planning and implementation of best practice.
• Maintain own competence and engage in appraisal.
