Job summary

WSP is seeking a geotechnical engineer to work on mining and civil projects, from concept to detail design, across facilities like tailings and heap leach operations. You will support project delivery, prepare reports and estimates, and travel to client sites in the UK and internationally.

You will mentor graduates, engage in business development, and uphold WSP values, safety culture, and equality commitments across a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering or engineering geology.
• Knowledge of national and international design guidelines and regulations.
• Mining and geotechnical experience related to mine waste disposal/facilities.
• Ability to interpret and monitor results and use tools to monitor and design geotechnical structures.
• Theoretical and practical project management and consultancy experience including client relationships and project teams.
• Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally.
• Willingness to travel to remote environments.

Responsibilities

• Work on tailings management facilities, heap leach facilities, water impoundments and waste rock dump design, soil mechanics and related civil engineering work.
• Assist project managers in delivering projects, including time, budget and quality control.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications, bill of quantities and cost estimates.
• Travel within the UK and internationally to assist clients in solving engineering problems and support construction of WSP designs.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients and represent WSP on site.
• Liaise with the Mining Team networks both nationally and internationally.
• Provide mentoring and coaching to graduate team members.
• Assist with business development including technical proposals.
• Adhere to the Code of Conduct and safety policies; promote health and safety.
• Ensure actions align with Equality Policy.
