Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Section Engineer (Geotechnical) to join the KierBAM Joint Venture team based in Plymouth, Devonport Royal Dockyard. The role focuses on on-site geotechnical works within a live MOD facility, requiring CSCS White PQP/AQP and SMSTS qualifications.

You will manage drawings, testing, and QA processes, provide engineering support, and ensure precise setting-out and communication on site. Security checks apply.

Qualifications

• Academic qualification at Level 3 or above (HNC, HND, or Degree).
• Demonstrable experience in geotechnical applications such as drilling, grouting, anchor installation, inspection and testing.
• Good IT skills including CAD and BIM systems.
• Familiar with Quality Management Systems and writing RAMS.
• CSCS White PQP/AQP and SMSTS qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Managing the preparation of as-built drawings and establishing effective systems to record work completed.
• Assisting in the recording and testing of workmanship and materials, including drilling, grouting and anchoring.
• Providing engineering support to ensure technical problems are overcome and technical queries are answered.
• Taking responsibility for setting out works and providing dimensional control to ensure accurate construction.
• Preparing sketches for distribution on site and maintaining clear communication channels for effective understanding.
