Job summary

Fugro is seeking a Team Leader – Rock Testing for our geotechnical laboratory in Wallingford. You will lead a team delivering rock-testing services with safety, quality and customer focus at the forefront.

You will coordinate workloads, provide technical guidance, review data and ensure timely, accurate reporting while developing lab capability and improving methods alongside project managers.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in geotechnical soil or rock testing.
• Experience leading, supervising or coordinating a small technical team.
• A degree in Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong communication, numerical and organisational skills with focus on safety, quality and detail.
• Knowledge of rock-testing standards, chartership progress, and experience using MS 365/Excel or LIMS.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a dedicated team of laboratory professionals, fostering an inclusive environment.
• Plan and coordinate rock-testing activities, workloads, resources and equipment to deliver accurate results safely and on time.
• Act as the technical lead for rock testing, guiding colleagues and stakeholders.
• Oversee data review, validation and reporting to meet specifications.
• Maintain safety, quality and accreditation compliance including audits and calibration.
• Collaborate with project managers to deliver testing programmes within budget and deadline.
• Coach and develop team members and explore testing-method improvements.
