Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer in Newcastle upon Tyne. You will act as technical lead on complex geotechnical projects, developing ground models, providing specialist advice and overseeing design deliverables across a diverse portfolio.

You will manage project delivery, lead client relationships, and mentor engineers while supporting business development and tender submissions. Chartered status or progress towards chartership is expected.

Qualifications

• Strong technical background in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology and ground risk management.
• Experience delivering complex geotechnical design and analysis for diverse projects.
• Proven ability to lead technical delivery, manage risks and ensure QA of outputs.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead on complex geotechnical and multidisciplinary projects.
• Lead development of ground models, assessments, design solutions and deliverables.
• Manage programme, commercial performance, QA and risk across projects.
• Lead client relationships and support business development.
• Direct plan, procurement and management of ground investigations.
• Provide mentorship to engineers and support career progression.
• Contribute to bidding and tender submissions with methodologies and fees.
