Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer in Leeds to lead complex geotechnical and multidisciplinary projects. You will guide ground model development, assessments and design across a diverse portfolio, managing programmes, risks and client relationships.

You will mentor engineers, support bidding and tender submissions, and champion innovative and sustainable delivery across geotechnical teams.

Qualifications

• Strong technical background in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology and ground risk management.
• Experience delivering complex geotechnical design, analysis and interpretation.
• Ability to lead technical delivery, manage project risks and ensure QA for outputs.
• Commercial awareness with project management, fee control and delivery experience.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management with clients and teams.
• Experience leading ground investigation programmes and supervising construction phases.
• Mentoring junior team members and promoting technical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead on complex geotechnical and multidisciplinary projects throughout lifecycles.
• Lead development of ground models, geotechnical assessments, design solutions and deliverables.
• Perform advanced geotechnical analysis for foundations, earthworks, slopes and assets.
• Manage project delivery including programme, cost, quality and risk.
• Lead client relationships and support business development opportunities.
• Direct planning and management of ground investigations and data interpretation.
