Job summary

Amey in Cardiff is offering an Industry Placement in Geotechnical Engineering for 12 months starting September 2027. You’ll join the Geotechnical Practice, supporting desk studies, ground investigations and asset inspections on major rail and highways schemes while learning from experienced engineers.

The programme welcomes students currently studying Civil or Geotechnical Engineering and requires a Full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Currently studying Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology or another relevant subject.
• A Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Produce desk studies to determine risk and suitable solutions for design with safety first and foremost.
• Plan and supervise ground investigations to inform geotechnical interventions.
• Carry out geotechnical asset inspections on major infrastructure in Rail and Highways sectors.
• Propose solutions to engineering problems and perform calculations and analysis to determine their suitability.
• Prepare specifications, drawings and design reports.
• Deliver multidisciplinary schemes in collaboration with colleagues from across the Amey Consulting Business.
