Job summary

Ernest Gordon Recruitment Limited is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer (Ground Investigation) in Exeter. The role involves undertaking and supervising ground investigations, desk studies, logging soils and rocks to BS 5930, and interpreting field and lab data to produce reports.

Exeter

Are you an Engineering Geologist or Geotechnical Engineer with ground investigation experience, looking to join a well-established multidisciplinary consultancy offering technical variety, chartership support, and the opportunity to work on projects across the South West?

Your role will involve undertaking and supervising ground investigations, carrying out Phase 1 Desk Studies, logging soils and rock to BS 5930 standards, interpreting field and laboratory data, and producing factual and interpretative geotechnical and geo-environmental reports.

You will also liaise with clients, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

The suitable candidate will have a degree in Geology or similar, with experience in UK ground investigation and sampling to BS 5930 standards.

The Role

• Phase 1 desk studies, including historical records review
• Organising ground investigations and visiting sites
• Sending soil and rock samples to be tested in the laboratory
• In-situ testing where required
• Creating geo-environmental reports
• Logging all samples to BS 5930 standards
• Travelling to sites across the South West and South Wales
• Monday to Friday, 8 - 5

The Person

• Degree in relevant field
• Practical ground investigation and sampling experience
• Full UK driving license
