Job summary

Millbank Holdings Ltd is seeking a freelance Geotechnical Designer / Site Representative for a live site project in North Wales. You will act as the on-site geotechnical authority, providing technical advice during earthworks and foundation installation, and supporting design changes as required.

The role requires extensive experience with piles, foundations, and earthworks, plus strong communication skills to coordinate with construction teams on site.

Qualifications

• Extensive site-based geotechnical experience on construction projects.
• Strong background in earthworks, piles, shallow foundations and retaining systems.
• Excellent knowledge of UK standards Eurocode 7 and BS 5930.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site geotechnical advice during earthworks and foundation installation.
• Review installation records and undertake regular site inspections.
• Assist with design changes and risk mitigation on live projects.
• Coordinate with construction teams to ensure alignment with geotechnical standards.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

The Role

As a freelance Geotechnical Designer / Site Representative, you will act as the on-site geotechnical authority, supporting daily construction activities during earthworks and foundation installation. Your responsibilities will include providing technical advice, reviewing installation records, undertaking site inspections, and assisting with design changes and risk mitigation.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven and extensive experience providing site-based geotechnical support on construction projects.
• Strong background in earthworks, piles, shallow foundations, and piled retaining walls.
• Excellent knowledge of UK standards such as Eurocode 7 and BS 5930.
• Chartered status is preferred.
• Confident working independently on site with excellent communication skills.
• Pragmatic, construction-focused mindset with a 'can-do' attitude to problem solving.
