Job summary

Kier Group in Penrith is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to act as Designer's Site Representative on the A66 NTP upgrade project. You will support the Structures and Geotechnical Design Team, delivering safe earthworks, foundations and retaining walls on site.

The role requires Chartered Geologist or equivalent, with design and live-site delivery experience, strong decision-making and collaboration with contractors and stakeholders. Full UK driving licence and CSCS card required.

Qualifications

Must be Chartered Geologist, Geotechnical or Civil Engineer, or equivalent level.
Experience in both design and site delivery of earthworks and geotechnical works.
Able to make engineering decisions on live construction sites.
Experience working with contractors, designers and stakeholders.
UK driving licence and CSCS card required.

Responsibilities

Provide specialist geotechnical advice to construction managers and interpret design requirements.
Act as the interface between construction and design teams, coordinating with project managers and supervisors.
Witness construction works to identify good practices and rectify defects.
Guide validation and testing of earthworks and foundations.
Prepare geotechnical feedback reports and update asset databases.
Collaborate with structures Works Examiner team.
