Job summary

Plowman Craven is seeking a Surveyor to contribute to specialist surveying projects across rail, highways and infrastructure. You will work with experienced teams, use GNSS, total stations, laser scanning, and drones, and ensure data quality for major projects.

The role is suited to a surveyor with 3–5 years' experience, who enjoys hands-on fieldwork and can travel nationwide. UK driving licence and CSCS card are required, with LU-WSSI desirable.

Qualifications

• General surveying experience, ideally in rail or infrastructure.
• Experience in control traverses, levelling and GNSS data collection.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Deliver surveying projects across rail, highways and infrastructure to specifications and programmes.
• Use traditional surveying techniques and modern technologies (GNSS, total stations, laser scanning, drones).
• Work with Lead Surveyors and Project Managers to select equipment and survey methodologies.
• Take ownership of project activities including site logistics, data capture and data management.
• Check survey data and deliverables against specs and resolve discrepancies before review.
• Communicate progress and resource needs to project teams and coordinate with clients and subcontractors.
• Mentor junior surveyors through knowledge sharing and good site practices.
