RSK Geosciences are recruiting for a Near Surface Geophysicist to join the team based in Helsby. This is a full-time, permanent position.

The Geosciences team provides consultancy and design services to a range of external clients including engineers, house-builders, oil companies and local authorities. Responsibilities:

  • Work within our experienced team under the guidance of the Principal Geophysicist and Team Leader
  • Preparation for and undertaking site work using a variety of geophysical techniques, data processing, interpretation, and report production.
  • Mentor and/or line manage junior members of the team
  • Manage ongoing projects and liaise with clients as required
  • Preparing proposals


Qualifications/Experience:

  • Near Surface Geophysicist (2-3 years’ experience)
  • Competent in use of GPR, ERT, Seismic Refraction, MASW, Microgravity, Magnetics and Electromagnetic instrumentation.
  • Experienced in processing data for the above techniques.
  • Competent user of High Precision GPS, Total Stations.
  • Competent user of 2D AutoCAD
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong IT skills including Excel, CAD and some programming would be an advantage
  • Must hold a UK driving license
  • Must be prepared to travel and stay away from home when required
