Job Description

Are you ready to lead impactful geophysical projects that shape the future of site characterisation? At Fugro, we’re looking for a Lead Project Geophysicist to join our UK Land Site Characterisation team in Wallingford. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality geophysical data and insights supporting infrastructure and environmental projects across the UK and beyond. You’ll collaborate with geophysicists, technicians, and project managers—locally and globally—ensuring excellence and innovation in technical delivery.

Location: Wallingford, UK; onshore and nearshore site operations domestically and internationally.

Work Environment: Hybrid role involving office and site work, offering a balance of collaboration and remote work.

Working Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Your Role And Responsibilities
  • Manage field crews as Team Leader, ensuring safe, high-standard, on-schedule operations.
  • Coordinate geophysical operations with Fugro and third-party personnel.
  • Process, interpret, and report geophysical data for medium to high complexity projects.
  • Ensure data quality and deliverable standards through expert review and oversight.
  • Contribute to proposals and tenders with technical input and optimization recommendations.
  • Support development of project procedures, safety, and technical documentation.
  • Represent Fugro at industry conferences and contribute to publications.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to support business development and client engagement.
What You’ll Need To Thrive In This Role
  • A degree in Geophysics, Earth Sciences, or related field.
  • Proven experience in geophysical project delivery, including fieldwork and data interpretation.
  • Strong knowledge of geophysical survey equipment and techniques.
  • A Full UK Manual Driving License.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to mentor and lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally as needed.
