Job summary

A recruitment firm specializing in civil engineering is seeking an experienced Principal Recruitment Consultant to manage ground investigations and supervise fieldwork. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Geology or Earth Sciences and at least two years of post-graduate experience in geo-environmental projects. This role offers a 6-month contract with responsibilities across various infrastructure sectors in Scotland.

Qualifications

  • SSSTS/SMSTS certification preferred.

Civil, Structural & Geotechnical Engineering | Principal Recruitment Consultant |

We’re looking for an experienced ground investigation professional to join a multidisciplinary company. You’ll manage and supervise ground investigations, collect and interpret site and lab data, and produce technical reports across infrastructure sectors including rail, highways, and waterways.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage ground investigation tasks and coordinate supply chains.
  • Conduct fieldwork including soil and rock logging, sampling, and in-situ testing.
  • Prepare factual reports and schedule lab analyses.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance on site.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to deliver high-quality project outcomes.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and clear communication.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
  • Must have at least a couple of years of post‑grad experience in the UK on geo‑environmental projects.
  • Site supervision experience (e.g. drilling contractors).
  • Strong understanding of ground investigation risks and safety.
  • SSSTS/SMSTS preferred.
  • Skilled in factual reporting.
  • Progressing toward professional chartership.
  • Experience in rail/highways is a plus.
  • 6‑month initial contract.
  • Location: Scotland
  • Minimum 12 months experience in geo‑environmental projects.
  • Inside IR35 – role may get re‑assessed
