Job summary

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Genetic Technologist (Deputy Specimen Reception Team Lead) to join the Genomics Laboratory’s Sample Reception and Send-out Team. The role focuses on sample receipt, processing and coordinating send-outs, with limited hands-on lab work.

You will supervise the reception team and support the Reception Lead and Deputy Lead. Hours are flexible within 8am–8pm, Monday–Friday, with some weekend work.

Qualifications

• Biological Science Degree (BSc) or equivalent.
• Data processing / IT qualification or equivalent experience.
• Leadership Qualification or demonstrable supervisory experience.
• Registration with AHCS or HCPC, or nearing completion.

Responsibilities

• Deputy lead for GLH reception area, supervising staff and processes.
• Technical co-ordinator for Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) send-out service.
• Support day-to-day sample management and laboratory activities in specimen reception.
• Accurate, timely data entry into the laboratory information system.
• Assist with service improvement and staff development.
