Job summary

Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group in Poole seeks an accredited Biomedical Scientist to oversee the genomics referral pathway within Cellular Pathology. You will monitor referrals, contribute to monthly performance data and support a high-quality diagnostic service.

Qualifications

• Accredited Biomedical Sciences degree or equivalent
• Evidence of NHS laboratory experience
• Experience in Cellular Pathology
• Experience in histology staining techniques
• Ability to follow SOPs and local policies
• Experience performing quality control checks
• Experience using common IT software
• Experience dealing with referral requests

Responsibilities

• Oversee the genomics referral pathway within Cellular Pathology
• Monitor genomic referrals and liaise with staff to progress cases
• Prepare and submit monthly genomics performance data
• Represent Cellular Pathology at genomics performance meetings
• Undertake routine histology duties (tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining)
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and contribute to QA and audits
• Collaborate with Biomedical Scientists, Pathologists and MDT members
• Adhere to Trust policies, lab procedures, HCPC standards and safety requirements
