Job summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Laboratory Quality Lead to oversee quality across the Wessex Genomics Laboratory Service (WGLS) at Southampton and Salisbury. The role drives governance, risk management and compliance, aligning with ISO 15189:2022 and UKAS activities.

The post supports continuous improvement, staff development and a culture of patient safety within a large acute teaching Trust acknowledged as 'Good' by CQC.

Qualifications

• Significant clinical laboratory experience with ISO 15189 and regulatory requirements.
• Experience developing and maintaining a Quality Management System (QMS) including audits and change control.
• MSc or IBMS Higher Specialist Certificate and HCPC/AHCS registration.
• Strong organisational, analytical and communication abilities with cross-disciplinary influence.
• Flexible, proactive and capable of navigating transformational service change.

Responsibilities

• Lead quality management across Southampton and Salisbury labs, ensuring ISO 15189 and UKAS alignment.
• Coordinate UKAS assessments, accreditation work and regulatory inspections; manage non-conformances and actions.
• Oversee internal audits and drive continual improvement across the service.
• Support risk management and promote safety, quality and governance culture.
