Job summary

NIHR BioResource in Cambridge is seeking a Genomics Bioinformatician with strong bioinformatics and programming experience to manage data requests and define cohorts based on genomic profiles. The role supports the expansion of resources for biomedical studies and will oversee a small sub team.

The post holder will contribute to transitioning data hosting to AWS and integration into a secure, scalable bioinformatics platform. Collaboration across projects and translational research is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in bioinformatics, computational genomics, software development
• Experience with rare or complex disorder genetics or translational research
• Proficiency in programming, bioinformatics tools and database management
• Collaborative and detail-oriented approach essential

Responsibilities

• Manage a small sub team fulfilling data requests by providing genomic data and/or defining cohorts based on genomic profiles
• Contribute to activities of the Bioinformatics team and assist in data hosting transitions to AWS and integration in the bioinformatics platform with a variant database and Secure Desktop Environment (SDE)
• Support translational research and data sharing initiatives as part of NIHR BioResource team
