Job summary

Genomics England is seeking a Genomic Data Scientist for a 12-month fixed-term contract in London. You will contribute to a multidisciplinary team, applying Python and R for cancer genomics analyses, focusing on germline and somatic variants in our cancer pipeline.

The role involves algorithm development, tool benchmarking, and end-to-end NGS data analysis. The position is based at Canary Wharf with hybrid working and a strong emphasis on collaboration and impact.

Qualifications

• PhD degree or equivalent practical experience in an industry setting.
• Proficiency in Python and R for data processing and analysis.
• Knowledge of statistics and/or machine learning.

Responsibilities

• Develops and fine-tunes algorithms for variant prioritization and classification in cancer diagnostics.
• Benchmarks and improves tools for processing whole-genome data and performs custom analyses.
• Manages end-to-end NGS data analysis from sequencing QC to annotation and prioritization of variants.
