Job summary

Genomics England is seeking a Genomic Data Scientist for a 12-month fixed-term contract based in London. You will join a multidisciplinary Genome Analysis team delivering genomic medicine and cancer pipeline analyses using Python, R and ML techniques.

The role focuses on variant prioritization, whole-genome data analyses, QC, and annotation, with collaboration across academia and industry. Strong coding practices with Git/CI/CD are essential.

Qualifications

• PhD degree or equivalent practical experience in industry setting.
• Proficiency in Python and R for data processing and analysis.
• Experience with high-throughput sequencing algorithms.
• Knowledge of statistics and/or machine learning.
• Experience in cancer genomics and interpreting genomic data.

Responsibilities

• Developing and fine-tuning algorithms for variant prioritization and classification for cancer diagnostics and screening.
• Benchmarking and improving tools for processing and analyzing whole genome data and performing custom analyses.
• Managing the full cycle of NGS data analysis from sequencing QC to annotation and prioritization of variants.
