Job summary

Genex, part of the Obsequio Group, seeks an HVAC Commissioning Engineer for the UK. The role involves commissioning HVAC and associated mechanical systems, ensuring safety and efficiency in line with project specs and client requirements.

Candidates should have experience in commercial, healthcare or data centre environments, be able to interpret drawings, and hold CSA Grade 3 certification with SMSTS/SSSTS. A company van and 25 days leave are among the benefits.

Qualifications

• HVAC commissioning experience is essential.
• Strong knowledge of chilled water, heating water and hydronic systems.
• Experience with BMS/controls and interface with water treatment.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and P&IDs.
• UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute HVAC commissioning from pre-commissioning to handover.
• Review drawings, specs and control strategies.
• Perform pre-functional inspections and functional testing.
• Commission AHUs, FCUs, chillers, boilers, pumps and ventilation systems.
• Coordinate with TAB specialists for performance verification.
• Prepare commissioning plans, inspection records and final reports.

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and motivated HVAC Commissioning Engineer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for commissioning HVAC and associated mechanical systems, ensuring they operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements.

This role requires excellent technical knowledge, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute HVAC commissioning activities from pre-commissioning through to final handover.
• Review project drawings, specifications, control strategies, and commissioning documentation.
• Carry out pre-functional inspections and functional performance testing of HVAC systems.
• Commissioning of vent & wet systems including, air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), chillers, boilers, pumps, ventilation systems, heat recovery units, and associated plant.
• Liaise with Testing, Adjusting and Balancing (TAB) specialists to verify system performance.
• Produce commissioning plans, method statements, inspection records, test sheets, and final commissioning reports.
• Work closely with Genex air and water specialists where HVAC systems interface with water treatment and environmental control systems.
• Minimum of 1 years' experience in HVAC commissioning
• Strong understanding of chilled water, heating water, ventilation, air conditioning, and hydronic systems.
• Experience commissioning Building Management Systems (BMS) and controls.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and control philosophies.
• Experience working on commercial, healthcare, pharmaceutical, industrial, or data centre projects is advantageous.
• CSA Grade 3 or equivalent commissioning certification.
• SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
• Full UK driving licence
• Experience with cleanrooms, healthcare, data centres, or mission-critical facilities.
• Knowledge of water treatment systems and closed-system water quality.
