Job summary

Urmson, part of the HSL Compliance Group, is seeking an HVAC Commissioning Engineer based in Chorley with travel. You will lead commissioning of air and water systems and ensure they meet CIBSE standards while maintaining project timelines and budgets.

You will act as on-site technical lead, producing test sheets and certificates, conducting system demonstrations, and coordinating with clients and consultants to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable performance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in commissioning HVAC air and water systems with CIBSE familiarity.
• Mechanical or building services qualifications (CSCS essential).
• Ability to produce professional technical reports and checklists.
• Travel and overnight stays across regional and national portfolio.
• Full UK driving license for a mobile role.

Responsibilities

• Execute full commissioning of air and water systems in strict accordance with current CIBSE Codes.
• Lead domestic water system balancing, ensuring optimal flow and thermal performance across the network.
• Perform professional set-up and validation of TMV to ensure user safety and regulatory compliance.
• Generate accurate test sheets, handover certificates, and engineer work reports in a timely manner.
• Lead system demonstrations for clients and consultants, explaining technical performance and ensuring all project requirements are met.
• Act as the primary company representative on-site, ensuring all commissioning activities are completed on time and within budget.
• Participate in company training programs to stay ahead of evolving HVAC technologies and standards.

HVAC Commissioning Engineer

Location: Chorley (Travel required)

Salary: Up to£50,000pa depending on experience and CSA gradings

As a Commissioning Engineer, you are the face of the company and the final line of technical assurance. You will be responsible for ensuring that complex HVAC and water systems meet rigorous industry standards, providing the critical bridge between installation and a happy client.

What You'll Be Doing

• Execute full commissioning of air and water systems in strict accordance with current CIBSE Codes.

• Lead domestic water system balancing, ensuring optimal flow and thermal performance across the network.

• Perform professional set-up and validation of Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMV) to ensure user safety and regulatory compliance.

• Generate accurate test sheets, handover certificates, and engineer work reports in a timely manner.

• Lead system demonstrations for clients and consultants, explaining technical performance and ensuring all project requirements are met.

• Act as the primary company representative on-site, ensuring all commissioning activities are completed on time and within budget.

• Participate in company training programs to stay ahead of evolving HVAC technologies and standards.

• Proven experience in the commissioning of HVAC air and water systems, with a deep understanding of CIBSE guidelines.

• Relevant mechanical or building services qualifications (CSCS card is essential).
