Job summary

Teaching Personnel is working with a fantastic primary school in Central Bristol that is seeking a committed General Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This full-time role supports the class teacher across KS1 and KS2, works with pupils 1:1 and in small groups, and helps with phonics, reading, writing and maths.

You will support children with SEND including ASD, ADHD and speech and language needs, contribute to the wider life of the school and access CPD opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children in schools, nurseries, youth work or volunteering.
  • Patient, enthusiastic and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher across the school day in KS1 and/or KS2.

General Teaching Assistant – Central Bristol

Hours: Full time (5 days per week)
Location: Central Bristol

We are working with a fantastic primary school in Central Bristol that is seeking a committed General Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children’s learning and who is looking to develop a career in education. The school has a supportive leadership team, a friendly staff community and offers great opportunities for professional development.

The Role:
  • Supporting the class teacher across the school day in KS1 and/or KS2
  • Working with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Supporting learning in core subjects such as phonics, reading, writing and maths
  • Helping children who find learning challenging to access the curriculum
  • Supporting children with special educational needs including autism (ASD), ADHD, dyslexia and speech and language needs
  • Implementing strategies from individual education plans (IEPs) and supporting pupils with EHCPs
  • Using positive behaviour management strategies to promote a calm, purposeful learning environment
  • Encouraging pupils’ confidence, independence and social skills
  • Helping to prepare resources and support classroom organisation
  • Assisting with observations and recording of pupil progress
  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO and wider staff team
  • Contributing to the wider life of the school where required
