Job summary

Asda in Stevenage is seeking a General Store Manager to lead day-to-day operations across departments, including Food, Non-Food, Online and Customer. You will drive availability, minimise waste and shrink, and ensure compliance, working with the Operations Manager and department managers to uphold standards and deliver a high quality shopping experience.

You’ll build a coaching culture, empower your teams with clear ownership and support, while delivering consistent results and a strong selling

Qualifications

• Proven experience as General Store Manager or Operations Manager in large-format retail.
• Strong operational knowledge across food and non-food with track record of excellence.
• Experience reducing waste and managing shrink.
• Experience developing large teams and leading change.
• Experience handling complex ER cases and HR policies.
• Excellent organisational skills and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning strategy and execution of day-to-day operations across key departments.
• Maximise product availability and minimise waste and shrink.
• Collaborate with Operations Manager and department managers to uphold standards and drive productivity.
• Improve delivery flow, stock routines, and compliance.
• Create an empowering, customer-focused shop floor culture.
