Job summary

Scott Timber Ltd at our Dalbeattie sawmill is seeking a Log Yard Operator to join a team and perform a range of duties across the Log Yard, including moving logs with a 360 material handler and wheeled loader, and unloading log wagons.

The ideal candidate is production-focused, capable of meeting deadlines, and holds a valid driving licence. Training for heavy plant is provided, with emphasis on health & safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy mobile plant is preferred but full training can be provided.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Be flexible and work well as part of a small team.
• High level of organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Appreciation of quality and Health & Safety.
• Full valid driving licence.

Job description

Salary: £12.76 - £14.25 depending on shifts and experience

Based at our Dalbeattie sawmill, you will be responsible for a variety of duties across the Log Yard, working within a team and individually.

Specifically, some responsibilities of a Log Yard Operator include:

• Movement of logs using 360 material handler and wheeled loader.
• Unloading of log wagons.

About you:

We are looking for a motivated individual who is production focused and has the ability to meet deadlines. In addition, you’ll have;

• Experience using heavy mobile plant would be preferred but is not essential as full training can be provided.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Be flexible and work well as part of a small team.
• A high level of organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Appreciation of quality and Health & Safety.
• Full Drivers Licence.
