Facilities Operative (Driving Required)
Overview
We are seeking a Facilities Operative to provide collection, delivery and site support services across multiple healthcare and operational locations throughout the Birmingham area. This is a varied, hands‑on role involving the transportation of equipment, stock and supplies, supporting day‑to‑day site operations and maintaining high standards of health, safety and customer service.
The successful candidate will work independently for much of the time and will be responsible for operating a transit‑sized company vehicle.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, transport and deliver furniture including beds, mattresses, lockers, desks and chairs.
- Move and deliver electrical appliances and equipment.
- Collect, transport and dispose of various waste streams in accordance with procedures.
- Safely handle and transport clinical waste using the appropriate PPE and safe working practices.
- Pick and distribute stock and consumable supplies.
- Deliver food supplies between locations.
- Install and replace privacy curtains.
- General maintenance
- Carry out duties that may require working at height using step ladders.
- Move and transfer vehicles between sites when required.
- Complete routine vehicle inspections and basic checks.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and presentation.
- Ensure stores, compounds and parking areas remain clean and organised.
- Support additional operational and facilities‑related tasks as required.
Requirements Essential
- Full UK driving licence with no major endorsements.
- Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Health and safety focused approach.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Good level of physical fitness.
- Comfortable with manual handling duties and heavy lifting.
- Comfortable working at height when required.
