Job summary

Reliable Contractors Limited is seeking a depot operative based at BS11 9BT to help operate the site for safe storage and timely supply of bitumen to customers. The role demands strict adherence to safety rules, handling of loading processes, and collaboration with drivers and site personnel.

You will work Monday to Friday with day and night shift patterns. The position is full-time under PAYE with 20 days of paid holidays and a start date after vetting, medical and induction.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths/English or equivalent with minimum grade C.
• At least 2 years in a similar discipline with working knowledge of health and safety.
• Full clean driving licence.
• Health & Safety awareness and good understanding of site safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Support the Depot Manager to operate the site for safe and efficient storage and supply of bitumen.
• Assist with loading bitumen into customer road tankers and maintain a professional image of the company.
• Conform to Permit to Work scheme and follow risk assessments and method statements.
• Undertake additional duties related to running and maintaining the Avonmouth Site as directed by the Site Manager.
• Attend inductions, toolbox talks and keep up-to-date with training as required.

Assignment Details

Role and Responsibilities

• To assist the Depot Manager to operate the site in order to ensure the safe and efficient storage and supply of bitumen from the Avonmouth Depot to Continental Bitumen's customers.


• To be and ambassador for Safety - Ensure adherence at all times to site safety rules and regulations. Supporting with operation of loading of bitumen into customer road tankers, maintaining a professional approach positively reflecting the image of the company at all times.


• To support with site maintenance ensuring full adherence to the Permit to Work scheme at all times and ensuring works are carried out in a safe manner adhering to site specific Risk Assessment & Method Statements.


• To undertake any additional duties (for which you are qualified / trained to undertake) in respect of the running and maintenance of the Avonmouth Site required by the Site Manager. Maintain / develop good relations with all site personnel including drivers on site to collect bitumen. Attend inductions / tool box talks / all appropriate briefings


• Ensure adherence to all company procedures at all times and effective time management between duties. Hold a flexible approach to working patterns and expectations to carry out other duties as deemed necessary to the business. Completion of required paperwork in line with company requirements. Attend training courses as and when relevant to ensure continued development

Shifts

• Working Days: Monday to Friday


• Shift Pattern: Split - Day shifts / night shifts

Overtime

• After 45 hours worked: all additional hours paid at 1.5x


• Saturday All hours paid at 1.5x


• Sunday All hours paid at 2.0x


• Bank Holidays All hours paid at 2.0x


• Shift Allowance - 0.33 A Swift allowance rate of 0.33 applies to all hours worked before 05:00 and after 19:00.
