Job summary

Balfour Beatty Power Transmission & Distribution seeks General Operatives - OHL to support stores, yards, and project sites across Scotland. You will assist with delivering materials, tools and equipment to ensure project delivery and maintain site efficiency.

You will work with Stores Personnel, HGV drivers and site teams to keep stock accurate, facilitate loading/unloading, and uphold health, safety and environmental standards on all assignments across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence is essential.
• Strong team-working skills are required.
• Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy operational environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Stores Person and HGV Drivers with daily operational activities.
• Support OHL construction gangs across project locations.
• Assist with loading and unloading delivery vehicles.
• Check deliveries against delivery notes and verify quality, quantity and condition of materials.
• Support stock and plant management activities and maintain accurate records.
• Assist with the hiring, acceptance and off-hiring of plant and equipment.
• Help manage the calibration and inspection of tools and lifting equipment.
• Maintain the security, cleanliness and organisation of project yards and stores.
• Liaise with operational teams to ensure materials and equipment are available to meet project requirements.
• Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance at all times.

General Operative - OHL

Due to continued growth and increased project demand across our SPEN portfolio, Balfour Beatty Power Transmission & Distribution is seeking motivated and hardworking General Operatives - OHL to join our teams working across various locations throughout Scotland.

This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a leading infrastructure business delivering critical projects that help build, upgrade and maintain the UK's electricity transmission network.

As a General Operative, you will support the efficient running of project stores, associated yards and operational project sites involved in the construction and maintenance of high-voltage overhead transmission lines. You will work closely with Stores Personnel, HGV Drivers and operational site teams to ensure materials, tools, plant and equipment are available where and when needed to support project delivery. Based on the role profile in General Operative - OHL, the position supports projects building and maintaining high-voltage overhead transmission lines and assists with the receipt and issue of materials, specialist plant, tools and equipment.

Who we're looking for

• Telehandler licence.
• OHL authorisations.
• Emergency First Aid at Work qualification.
