Job summary

Sainsbury's in Stockport seeks an experienced General Merchandise Manager to lead non-food product presentation and day-to-day store operations. You will guide the team from shop floor to warehouse, driving performance, schedules, and discipline while keeping the customer at the centre of every decision.

With a customer-first mindset, you will coach colleagues to deliver outstanding service, achieve KPIs, and manage complex people matters in a busy retail environment.

Qualifications

• Track record delivering exceptional customer experiences and coaching others to raise the bar.
• Experience leading teams in dynamic, customer-facing environments with high performance.
• Leadership in high-volume, fast-paced operations with daily problem solving and focus on customer delivery.
• Proven success delivering across KPIs like sales, stock, customer satisfaction, and colleague engagement.
• Experience managing complex people matters, including performance and formal employee relations cases.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for managing non-food products and ensure excellent presentation to delight customers.
• Ensure area runs smoothly from shop floor to warehouse.
• Lead and coach team performance, scheduling and pay, handling disciplinaries.
• Occasionally assume overall responsibility for running the store and directing colleagues to deliver for customers.
