Job summary

JD Gyms in Watford is seeking an inspirational Manager to develop the club’s standards, grow membership and lead a high-performing team.

You will drive sales, manage fitness coaches and general assistants, ensure health and safety compliance, and uphold brand standards while delivering excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Proven management experience within leisure or fitness sector.
• Strong customer-service orientation and inspirational leadership.
• Track record in driving sales and coordinating local marketing.
• Experience as General Manager or Fitness Manager preferred.
• Able to manage teams and ensure safety and cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Health and Safety policies and company procedures.
• Maintain JD Gyms Brand Standard across the club.
• Perform safety checks and report defects to ensure equipment safety.
• Recruit and manage Fitness Coaches and General Assistants to cover operations.
• Lead regular team meetings and develop staff.
• Achieve sales and membership targets and maximise secondary spending.
• Oversee cleanliness and uniform standards; manage weekly banking to minimise wastage.

Role overview:

This role requires an inspirational leader with proven flair and commercial ability, as well as the skill, energy and determination to drive and develop the business. We're looking for a manager with the experience of developing the standards and reputation of this new gym whilst nurturing a growing membership base and team.

Responsibilities:

Ensure that all policies and procedures in both the Health and Safety Employee Policy and Company Procedures Handbook are adhered to.

Responsible for adhering to and maintaining the JD Gyms Brand Standard.

Conduct daily, weekly , and monthly safety checks. Report and chase all defects, to ensure the building and its equipment is safe to use.

Recruit and manage a team of employed Fitness Coaches and General Assistants to ensure the club is operational cover to ensure daily expectations are delivered.

Hold regular team meetings to aid development and keep everyone updated.

To work towards and aim to achieve all sales and membership targets that are set.

To drive and maximise secondary spending revenue.

To ensure the whole of the gym facility is of the highest standard of cleanliness.

Ensure the in-house cleaners (General Assistant) are cleaning to the highest standard. To manage the weekly banking process so that wastage and variance is minimal, maximising profit.

To ensure uniform standards are being adhered to by all team members and yourself.

To help create an environment where the team enjoy themselves whilst at work.

To always be an ambassador of JD Gyms.

Skills and Experience:

Must have a proven and successful track record of management experience within a leisure related industry.

Must be passionate about customer service and be an inspirational leader in the way they manage.

Must have a proven track record in driving sales and co-ordinating local marketing activity as well as of recruiting and managing a successful team.

Ideally will have experience as a General Manager overseeing all business areas within a leisure facility or have substantial experience as a Fitness Manager or other similar operational function
